Take the diversion Prevention and Impairment Identification Training

The 30-minute compliance training for UCSF Health employees will be required to complete biennially in the UC Learning Center.

If this compliance requirement applies to you, you are notified via email. Once assigned, current employees have approximately 60 days to complete the training. The UC Learning Center will send automated messages to employees for the initial training assignment, a reminder message, and then an “overdue” if training is still outstanding on the deadline date.

UCSF Health employees include St. Mary’s, St. Francis, BCH Oakland, physicians and Advanced Practice Providers, as well as offsite staff.

Awareness of and adhering to core infection prevention practices will protect you, your patients, visitors and other staff, and is required to meet public health and The Joint Commission standards, regardless of your physical location.

Recent DEA enforcement actions have resulted in significant penalties for healthcare institutions with inadequate diversion prevention programs, including a $250,000 fine to Palomar Health for fentanyl diversion. Diversion directly threatens patient care through inadequate pain control, medication errors, and infection risks when medications are tampered with.
