UC-Coro Systemwide Leadership Collaborative

CORO Northern California

 

This nomination-based cohort program develops current and future administrative and faculty leaders thanks to a University of California partnership with Coro Northern California since 2006, focusing on enhancing leadership skills and fostering relationships, networking and collaboration. Working across organizational boundaries enables leaders to solve problems and contribute to the betterment of UC, while building a pipeline for executive leadership positions.

This is a different program from the UC Women's Initiative for Professional Development (UCWI) and the UCSF-CORO Faculty Leadership Collaborative.

Annual UC cohorts participate in:

  • seminars
  • intersession assignments
  • a group project

Participants benefit from:

  • personalized individual and group coaching
  • increased awareness of self and others
  • enhanced learning about the multiple UC locations' strengths and impact

2025 Cohort

  • This program is currently postponed with the intent to resume in 2025.
  • Program schedule and nomination information will be available in early 2024.
  • We will be communicating to location executive leaders and HR partners as well as updating this website as new program information becomes available.

2022 Cohort

Who is this program for?

This program seeks to develop current and future administrative and academic leaders. We encourage nominators to consider ethnic and gender diversity. Nominees should fulfill the following requirements:

  • Reports to: a Chancellor or Provost; President's Executive Officer (COO, CFO, Systemwide Provost, etc.); Medical Center Chief Officer (CEO, COO, CFO, CIO, etc.); Vice President, Vice Chancellor or Vice Provost; Academic Dean; or Associate/Assistant Vice Chancellor, Vice Provost or Vice President
  • Classified as: Director level and above in a permanent, career appointment and served in current position for at least one year
  • Demonstrates: leadership experience or potential, meaningful involvement in their workplace or community, a desire to make an active contribution to UC, strong personal initiative and motivation
  • Possessesthe ability to work collaboratively and well within a diverse group, good standing in work performance (not on any corrective action plan), and the commitment and support by a nominating sponsor that nominee will complete all assignments and seminars on time

Program Outline & Participation Expectations

​This rigorous program requires a firm commitment of approximately 80 hours of in-session and intersession assignments, plus an additional time commitment of at least 40 hours for the group project. Program components:

  • Three, two-day intensive class sessions held at various UC locations (dependent on state, county, local, and UC health guidelines)
  • Five virtual class sessions
  • Individual executive coaching
  • Executive leadership interaction and interviews
  • Opportunities to learn about UC’s unique educational opportunities, research, and public service
  • Peer consultancy opportunities throughout the program
  • A group project through which cohorts develop recommendations for a UC leader-sponsored initiative of systemwide import
  • A final cohort presentation for UC senior leaders focusing on recommendations

This is a substantial commitment and by nominating an individual you are agreeing to the time commitment and support of their attendance.

Cost

The participant's unit/department is responsible for funding:

  • $5,000 program fee per participant 
    covers all program materials, assessments, facilitation partner fees and executive coaching
  • Travel-related costs as well as travel arrangements 
    (including lodging, parking and any meals not included in the program) are not included in the program fee
